The invention relates to a stun grenade (100, 100'), the upper part (100.1) of which contains an igniter head (1) with a rocker lever (3) and said grenade has upper and lower ejection openings (8, 9, 12, 18, 19, 20) and an effect charge (11), said effect charge (11) being contained in a central chamber (10) of the stun grenade (100, 100'). The chamber (10) is functionally connected to both the upper and lower ejection openings (8, 9, 12, 18, 19). The ignition charge (6) and the chamber (10) are oriented or adjusted in relation to one another such that they act upon the effect charge (11) in the chamber (10) from above, preferably centrally, and can ignite said charge, thus allowing the entire chamber volume to be filled with the effect charge (11). In a preferred embodiment the stun grenade (100, 100') is modular such that the upper part (102) and the lower part (103) can be separated from one another but can also be connected to one another.
