<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which is capable of reducing an insertion loss when light is incident from a slab waveguide to an array waveguide or light is incident from an array waveguide to a slab waveguide without increasing a circuit scale and without making a circuit design and a manufacture thereof difficult. <P>SOLUTION: An optical waveguide includes: a slab waveguide 1 having a plurality of interference regions IF which cause diffracted light to interfere with each other in a plurality of phase gratings GP1 disposed at an interval in a direction almost parallel to a direction of light propagation and causing a propagated light to diffract, and a plurality of phase gratings GP1 disposed alternately with a plurality of phase gratings GP1 in a direction almost parallel to a direction of a light propagation; and an array waveguide 2 whose end part is connected at a position of a light interference part of a self-image which forms a plurality of phase gratings GP1 as an integrated phase grating and to an end part of the slab waveguide 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
