<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an increase in a maintenance cost due to lubricant replacement work despite having a configuration that can vary application amounts of lubricant in a main scanning direction. <P>SOLUTION: This lubricant application device includes a plurality of lubricant supply means for supplying an image carrier with the lubricant, in such a manner as dividing the image carrier in the main scanning direction with respect to the main scanning direction of the image carrier.
