APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MONITORING USING BEAM SPLITTER

PURPOSE: A monitoring apparatus which uses a spectrometer and a method thereof are provided to accurately position a rotary imaging module to a target object by setting the same pan and tilt angle values for a plurality of target objects recorded with the same coordinates using a fixed imaging module regardless of a distance between a camera and the target object. CONSTITUTION: A monitoring apparatus comprises a fixed imaging module(20), a rotary imaging module(26), a control module(30), and a spectrometer(32). The rotary imaging module records an image of a target object within a monitoring target region using the spectrometer. A fixed imaging module is installed on a coaxial/concentric position of the rotary imaging module with the spectrometer placed between the fixed imaging module and the rotary imaging module. The fixed imaging module records an image of a monitoring target region which is reflected in the spectrometer. The control module generates target location information from the image of the fixed imaging module and controls the rotary imaging module based on the location information.
