<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passing vehicle monitoring system which can accurately recognize passing vehicles on a road, be easily installed, and grasp what kind of vehicles are in a tunnel. <P>SOLUTION: A passing vehicle monitoring system 1 comprises a plurality of monitoring cameras 2 which are connected in a daisy chain manner and photograph vehicle passing conditions, and a center device 4 connected to the plurality of monitoring cameras. Each of the monitoring cameras 2 comprises: a plurality of photographing sections 21; a solid measuring section 23 for generating distance image data from a plurality of images; a basic monitoring section 24; a memory 27; a measure and record processing section for recording information including identification information and time information about a vehicle on the memory; and an additional monitoring section 25.
