<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the failure determination of a dot formation element by a simple circuit configuration. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: the dot formation element for forming dots on a recording medium; a state value acquisition means for acquiring a first state value which indicates a state of the dot formation element driven according to a periodic signal of a first frequency, and a second state value which is the state value indicating a state of the dot formation element driven according to the periodical signal of a second frequency; and a determination means for determining whether the dot formation element is normal based on a relative relationship between the first state value and the second state value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
