The invention relates to the field of metallurgy, in particular to reactors for processing a solid fuel, and can be used in power engineering and in the chemical industry for producing carbon sorbents, a metallurgical semicoke, a fuel gas or an industrial gas with simultaneous recovery of thermal energy for the purpose of providing heat supply. The reactor comprises a cylindrical chamber (1) with an end cover (2) and a base (3) in the form of a truncated cone, a charging chute (4), a pipe (5) for removal of the gas, a grating (6), a discharging chute (7), a mechanism for delivering air (8), thermoelectric sensors (9) which are electrically connected to a measuring unit (10), a water jacket consisting of a plurality of helical heat exchangers (11), pipes (12) for supplying water into the heat exchangers, and pipes (13) for draining water from the heat exchangers, said pipes being hydraulically connected to water supply and drain collectors (14) and (15), respectively. The space between the body and the heat exchangers is filled with a mineral thermally insulating material (16), and an adjustable valve (17) is installed on each pipe for supplying water into the heat exchanger and is electrically connected to a control unit (18). The use of the proposed reactor without a reduction in the productivity thereof makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the utilization of the heat of combustion of the fuel, and to increase by 10-15% the amount of useful thermal energy transferred to the consumers.
