<p>In a method for recovering copper or its alloys or other oxidizeable metals of similar or higher melting points from scrap which is sheathed or clad with combustible materials which are burnt to a friable condition, followed by cooling and separation of the metal from the charred or refractory residue, an atmosphere which is inert or reducing with respect to the metal is maintained during the time it is at a temperature at which air could produce oxidation.</p> |
