<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition which can achieve both low fuel consumption and wear resistance at high levels and has also excellent wet grip performances; and a pneumatic tire produced using the rubber composition. <P>SOLUTION: This rubber composition for tires includes: a rubber component containing a modified styrene-butadiene rubber having a structural unit derived from a specified nitrogen-containing compound; silica; and a compound expressed by general formula (I): R<SP POS="POST">20</SP>-S-S-A-S-S-R<SP POS="POST">21</SP>, wherein A represents a 2-10C alkylene group; R<SP POS="POST">20</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">21</SP>are the same or different and each represents a nitrogen atom-containing monovalent organic group, and the content of the modified styrene-butadiene rubber is 5 mass% or more relative to 100 mass% of the rubber component. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
