METHOD OF PRODUCING AROMATIC ACYL COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently producing an aromatic acyl compound useful as a raw material of various chemical products.

SOLUTION: An aromatic acyl compound is produced by causing an aromatic compound and malonic acid to react with each other in the presence of a solid acid catalyst. A solid acid catalyst such as a zeolite can be used as the catalyst. A zeolite of a ZSM-5 type or the like can be used, and the zeolite of a silica/alumina ratio of 2 to 1,000 is preferably used.
