A load bearing component, in particular for a bicycle, comprises an insert piece which is formed by a plurality of stacked insert piece segments (2). An intermediate sheet-like fibre layer (1b) is positioned between each set of adjacent insert piece segments such that an alternating stack of insert piece segments (2) and fibre layer(s) (1a, 1b) is formed. The intermediate sheet-like fibre layer (1b) has a centre fibre fixation portion (8) which is stacked with and fixed to exterior side faces of its adjacent insert piece segments (2), and has an outer fibre fixation portion (9) which projects outside of the insert piece segments (2) in order to there form a stacked fixation with the other fibre layer(s) (1a, 1b). An attachment hole, preferably a threaded attachment hole, can then be made to extend through the alternating stack of insert piece segments (2) and fibre layer(s) (1a, 1b).
