<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress occurrence of a secondary image defect along the circumferential direction of an image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier; charge means for charging a surface of the image carrier; development means for developing with toner an electrostatic latent image formed on a surface of the image carrier; cleaning means for cleaning the surface of the image carrier; humidity detection means for detecting humidity of an installation environment; timer means for measuring pose time after an image forming operation ends; and recovery means for performing a recovery operation for recovering the surface of the image carrier by the following steps of: determining applicability of performing the recovery operation in accordance with the pose time measured by the timer means if the humidity detected by the humidity detection means is equal to or higher than a predefined threshold; charging the surface of the image carrier by the charge means with a current value lower than a current value when forming an image; attaching toner on the surface of the image carrier by the development means; and cleaning the toner by the cleaning means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
