<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of supplying electric power with negotiation even when having no electric power for performing communication, and to provide a communication apparatus and a method of supplying the electric power which are related to the communication system. <P>SOLUTION: When a connection cable 3 is inserted, a source device 2 generates electric power by vibration caused by insertion of the connection cable 3, and transmits a start request signal for negotiation for electric power supply, to a sink device 1 by using the generated electric power. The sink device 1 having received the start request signal for the negotiation, starts the negotiation with the source device 2 on the basis of the start request signal.
