<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for improving bowel movement which dissolves the problems of the conventional techniques such as displeasure and bad taste upon drinking, and exhibits excellent bowel movement improving effect by the use of a small amount of the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The composition for improving bowel movement is characterized in that in a composition comprising salts, polydextrose and/or indigestible dextrin as a polymer compound and/or digestion resistant reducing sugar as carbohydrate, colloidal osmotic pressure is 20 to 100 mmHg, and also, the energy conversion factor of the polymer compound and the carbohydrate is 0 to 2 kcal/g.
