<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To classify various flows included by traffic on a communication network, with higher accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: A flow classification method is characterized in that: a plurality of flows generated within a predetermined period are integrated into one simultaneous flow; a plurality of packets, which are contained by the one simultaneous flow and arrive within a predetermined unit arriving interval, are integrated into one short time flow; flow feature amount is calculated for each of these short time flows; a flow feature vector showing a feature of temporal change of the flow feature amount is calculated; and similarity to an existing service category is determined.
