<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical motor that prevents contact between a rotor and a stator, and maintains a constant spacing between the rotor and the stator, when subjected to an external force or an impact. <P>SOLUTION: A spherical motor includes a stator 101 that has an approximately spherical shell structure, and a rotor 110 that has an approximately spherical external structure. The stator 101 is provided with magnetic pole members 102 each having a coil 122 wound therearound. Each of the magnetic pole members 102 has a salient pole surface 104 that has: an opening through which a bearing ball 115 for supporting the rotor 110 in a rotatable manner is projected toward the rotor 110; and a coil spring 117 and a spacer 118 that adjust an amount of the bearing ball 115 being projected. The bearing ball 115 being pushed by the rotor 110 brings a pressing member 116 for holding the bearing ball 115 into contact with the spacer 118, and contact is thus avoided between the rotor 110 and the stator 101.
