<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner which is able to restrain occurrence of uneven amount of light quantity, resulting from interposing a polarization beam splitter between a light source and a polarizing member. <P>SOLUTION: An optical scanning unit 10 for exposure scanning photoreceptor drums 31Y to K via a reflection mirror group 20 by deflecting a laser beam by a polygon mirror 151 comprises: light source parts 22K and 22S configured to emit laser beam groups LK and LS for linear polarization; a beam splitter unit 120 configured to transmit or reflect the laser beam groups LK and LS, made incident from different directions, according to the inclination of the polarization face, thereby emitting them onto the same optical path toward the polygon mirror 151; and a circular deflecting member 124 configured to convert the laser beam groups LK and LS for linear polarization into a circular or elliptic polarization by transmitting them through 1/4 wavelength plates 124b of different azimuth angles of the respective optical axes according to the laser beam groups LK or LS selectively emitted from the unit 120. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
