<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing a branch pipe capable of reducing a risk where a heavy industrial machine hooks a gate valve by making a finish after removing the branch pipe compact without causing degradation of workability. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for removing the branch pipe connected to a water pipe K with the gate valve 2 interposed, the gate valve 2 includes a valve box 21, a valve element 22 displaced between a closed position for blocking a flow channel in the valve box 21 and an open position for opening it, a valve stem 23 capable of operating displacement of the valve element 22, and a valve cover 25 detachably connected to the valve box 21 with the valve stem 23 incorporated. The method includes: a blocking step which disposes the valve element 22 in a closed position and seals the opening between the valve element 22 and the valve box 21 with a sealant 3 to be compressed in a pipe axis direction; a branch pipe removal step which removes the branch pipe from the gate valve 2 after the blocking step; and a valve cover removal step which releases connection between the valve box 21 and the valve cover 25, removes the valve stem 23 and the valve cover 25 with connection released from the valve element 22 from the valve box 21, and leaves the valve element 22 in the valve box 21 after the blocking step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
