<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a burden on a driver for continuing an operation on a brake pedal for operating a foot brake, and to prevent restart or launch due to decrease in operating force not intended by the driver on the brake pedal, in an engine automatic stop restart device. <P>SOLUTION: In the engine automatic stop restart device, a control condition detection means for detecting an automatic stop condition and restart condition of an engine mounted on a vehicle includes: a brake operation detection means for detecting a brake operation insufficiency state of the brake pedal for operating a foot brake applying brake force to a wheel; and a launch related operation detection means for detecting a launch related operation performed by a driver in connection with the launch of a vehicle.
