<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition excellent in water resistance even when a similar amount of a metal hydroxide is added as before, and to provide an electric wire and cable using the resin composition in an insulator and sheath of a conductor. <P>SOLUTION: A flame-retardant resin composition is obtained by: performing surface treatment of a particle of a metal hydroxide comprising at least one or more of magnesium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide, or calcium hydroxide with a fatty acid-based material; and adding the particle of the metal hydroxide to a polyolefin-based resin, wherein the fatty acid-based material is added in the range of 0.3-1.5 mass% relative to the metal hydroxide so that the surface of the particle of the metal hydroxide is partially exposed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
