<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antidepressant with low risk of side effect, and a drink or food product, a drug and a perfume composition containing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The antidepressant contains, as an active ingredient, at least one extract selected from a plant group consisting of Lavandula angustifolia, Lavandula latifolia, Lavandula×intermedia and Origanum vulgare or a fraction obtained by fractionating the plant extract.
