The invention relates to a method for obtaining a flexible material formed by at least two laminar layers of wood veneer glued together and connected to an elastic layer of rubber or the like. According to the invention, a series of cuts or slits is made in the wood-veneer cover laminar layer, the edges thereof being separated from one another by smaller and larger distances. The aforementioned cuts are oriented in different directions and have variable depths, without extending through the entire thickness of the wood layer. Moreover, said cuts define areas of wood veneer capable of flexing individually through movement of the material or friction with the body. The second wood-veneer laminar layer can be provided with cuts in the face opposite that which joins to the cover layer, thereby enhancing the flexibility thereof, or, alternatively, can be cut-free, thereby increasing the strength thereof.
