<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for inputting a character, capable of automatically setting an optimum input mode according to an input box or automatically and preferentially displaying an optimum Chinese character conversion candidate for each input box. <P>SOLUTION: A device for inputting a character comprises: input box focus determination means 101 for determining that a cursor has moved into an input box for inputting characters on a Web page; and an input box peripheral analysis section 102 for analyzing character information around the input box into which the cursor has been determined to have moved by the input box focus determination means 101. The device sets an input mode for inputting characters to the input box or Chinese conversion candidates to be preferentially displayed on a display screen when inputting the characters to the input box, based on the character information analyzed by the input box peripheral analysis means 102. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
