The present invention relates to an in vitro method for identifying a fungus, obtained by culturing from a biological or environmental sample, characterized in that it comprises constructing a library of mass spectra of filamentous fungi, wherein said library results from the spectrometric analysis of at least nineteen strains of fungi, and wherein said library comprises at least two reference spectra per strain, each of said reference spectra resulting from the analysis of a replicate culture of each of said strains. The present invention also relates to a method for extracting a filamentous fungus by means of formic acid, which is suitable in particular for implementing the identification method, and also to an in vitro method for identifying a fungus which comprises developing an identification score by species or by genus.
