<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of performing accurate toner concentration control by discriminating the inclination of a developing unit, that is, the inclination of an apparatus body, with an inexpensive configuration. <P>SOLUTION: On a correction table 88 for a control voltage for a toner concentration sensor 62, when the inclination of a developing unit 14, which is filled with a developer 83 whose toner concentration is 6% and in which the control voltage is initially set to 5.75 V so that the toner concentration sensor 62 outputs a detection signal of 2.5 V when the developing unit 14 is in a horizontal state, is gradually increased to a maximum of 8.0 degrees from the horizontal state by every 0.5 degrees in a plus-angle direction to measure the output of the toner concentration sensor 62, the output is gradually decreased to 1.70 V from 2.50 V in the horizontal state in increments of 0.05 V. A control voltage value for correction for maintaining the output at 2.50 V is tested in the field, to obtain a numerical value described in the lower half of a section 92 for the control voltage value (V). In the inclination in a minus-angle direction, a numerical value in the upper half of the section 92 for the control voltage value (V) is obtained.
