The device has a locking element i.e. locking key (4), for locking a connecting element i.e. dial foot. The locking element is accessible from a visible side (11) of a display element i.e. dial (1). A bore is provided in a support at periphery of the display element on the visible side of the display element. The locking element comprises a rod engaged with the bore, a head (42) and a truncated flange that is arranged concentric to the head. The flange is engaged in a notch of the connecting element located outward of the display element. An independent claim is also included for a method for fixing and locking a display element mounted on a support.
