A mixing valve, Fig. 1 (not shown), comprises a hot water inlet 30, a cold water inlet 26, and an outlet 28. A member 62 is adjustable between seats 92 and 50 to control the flow of cold water through passageways 88 and 90 to the mixing chamber 96 through passageway 94, and to control the flow of hot water through passageways 35, 39 and 52 to the mixing chamber through passageway 94. Member 62 is mounted on a spindle 70 and its axial position is controlled by a rotatable knob 120, screwed at 125, and acting through a thermal element 97. Element 97 is disposed in the mixing chamber 96 and is acted upon by water flowing to the outlet 28 through passageways 99 to maintain the ratio of flow through the seats 92 and 50, at the desired rate. Seat 92 is formed at one end of a sleeve 82 which includes the chamber 96. Sleeve 82 is threaded at 132 and its axial position is controlled by a knob 14 secured to the sleeve to control the volume of mixed water flowing through the valve. The valve provides that, during variations of the volume of water flowing through the valve, the temperature will be maintained at the desired setting by adjustment of the member 62, with respect to the seats 92 and 50, by the thermal element 97.</p> |
