The appliance has a heat exchanger (9) with a reserve of heat storage material (10) e.g. paraffin wax, capturing heat energy of washing and/or rinsing liquid product and returning heat energy captured by another washing and/or rinsing liquid product. A reservoir (11) is in fluid communication with a washing tank (2), where the products are set in successive circulation between the tank and the reservoir. The tank houses a preformed and rigid bag (12) containing heat storage material i.e. phase changing material. The bag is surrounded by the products, during filling of the tank. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling function of a washing appliance.
