PURPOSE: An individual selection viewing device and method are provided to selectively watch a 2d image and a 3d image according to individual preference or individual health condition. CONSTITUTION: A left eye lens and a right eye lens are respectively pass through one of polarized light of a left eye image and polarized light of a right eye image. Half-wave plates(1011, 1021) execute phase lag of incident light as 180degrees. The half-wave plates are attached or detached to a frame. The half-wave plates rotate over 90degrees by being connected to a hinge attached to the frame. A liquid crystal is attached to at least one of the left eye lens and the right eye lens. A mode controller supplies a power source to the liquid crystal according to a control signal.
