PURPOSE: An optical pickup device and an optical disc drive using the same are provided to suppress noise due to stray light, thereby obtaining a high-quality SPP(Sub Push-Pull) signal and effectively suppressing a tracking control error. CONSTITUTION: A light transmission system(10) comprises an objective lens(11) which faces a medium which includes an information storage multi recording layer. A light source system(20) transmits a single beam to the light transmission system. The single beam is used for recording/reproducing information on the multi recording layer. Light receiving systems(30) include light receiving elements in which light receiving cells are formed. The light receiving cells correspond to the beam. A light control unit(14) controls stray light generated in the medium.
