A mobile data storage device (4) comprises a processor (14), an interface unit (11, 12, 16), a digital memory (13), a position detecting unit (17) for detecting a position of the mobile data storage device (4) and a data management module (8) for managing data (7) of the digital memory (13). In particular, the data management module (8) is arranged to assign an attribute comprising the current position detected by the position detecting unit (17) to the data (7) when storing the data in the digital memory (13). According to the invention, finding and managing data (7) stored by the mobile data storage device (4) can be improved by taking into account the position within the attribute assigned to the data (7). Thus, by adding the additional attributes or tags comprising the geographical position to the data (7) or to every file that is created, saved or manipulated by the mobile data storage device (4) the data (7) can be conveniently managed and found.
