A pot burner is ignited by an electric incandescent igniter 7, the heating circuit of which is closed by a switch 5, actuated on opening the fuel supply at 4, and opened again automatically by a temperature controller 10 after the pot has reached a predetermined temperature. In an alternative embodiment the circuit is opened after a predetermined time interval. An additional switch 12 breaks the circuit when the tank 14 is empty. In a pot burner, Fig. 3, oil enters through a pipe 22 and flows along grooves 31 in the bottom of the burner to a cylindrical vaporizer 25. The vaporizer is heated by a tubular heating element 24 detachably mounted in a guide tube 23. Air heated while passing up through passages 33 inside the guide tube mixes with the vaporized oil and the mixture is ignited inside a casing 29 before striking down through openings 32 in the casing to the main burning zone. |
