The lower bearing shells 3 of a crankshaft 1 are removed without removing the crankshaft by applying high pressure liquid to a groove 4 in the shell, to force the shell against the crankshaft, and then rotating the crankshaft whereupon the shell rotates with the shaft out of the bearing block 2. A stop 7 may be screwed into the crankshaft to contact the shell 3 and complete its removal. The pressurized hydraulic fluid is provided by a hand pump 5. |
