<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a line segment region included in an image under a more suitable condition. <P>SOLUTION: A printer 20 acquires an original image used for generating a coloring picture image by reading out the image from a document under a preset condition of reading resolution by a scanner part 40. A processing condition for blurring is set so as to increase a region of the original image to be blurred in the detection when the reading resolution is higher. A dot processing part 27a removes dots by blurring the original image under a set processing condition, and detects a detection region by applying the line segment detection processing to the resultant original image. A gamma conversion part 27b applies different gamma conversion processing to the detected region and the region other than the detected region, and produces a line segment region and a blank region to generate a coloring picture image.
