PURPOSE: A single lens reflex camera is provided to prevent valid luminous flux from being shield by a bottom plate because the minimum distance between a central unit and optical axis is formed longer than the minimum distance between the bottom part of a sub mirror holder and the optical axis. CONSTITUTION: A single lens reflex camera comprises a mirror box(100) and a focus detecting unit(105). The mirror box houses a mirror biasing a part of luminous flux when the luminous flux passed through the photographing optical system is inserted into an optical path. The focus detecting unit comprises a condenser lens(107a) condensing the flux biased by the mirror box and performs a focus detection by using the flux condensed by the condenser lens and differential phase detection. The mirror box comprises a first opening(108a) and bottom plate. The first opening is arranged so that the flux passed through the photographing optical system is irradiated to the mirror box. The bottom plate is arranged between the mirror and focus detecting unit.
