<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which implements a copy function even without initiating a host device. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: a first data transfer unit for reading an image and transferring image data to a host device; a second data transfer unit for transferring image data to an image forming apparatus on the basis of control of a master station interface control unit; a third data transfer unit for receiving image data generated in the host device on the basis of control of a slave station interface control unit and transmitting the received image data to the image forming apparatus; and a network control unit for communicating with a second host device over a network. The network control unit analyzes network data and when the network data are data compliant to a prescribed network protocol and determined as a printer information acquisition command, the network data are transferred to the image forming apparatus after being translated into a recognizable language by a language translation unit.
