PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double deck elevator and its control method giving a passenger no insecure feeling or feeling of discomfort even when a destination floor is near. SOLUTION: The double deck elevator has a car frame for mounting an upper cab and a lower cab, an inter-cab distance changing means of changing a distance between the upper and lower cabs, a car frame moving means of vertically moving the car frame, a transit time calculating means of calculating a transit time of the car frame to the destination floor, an inter-cab distance changing time calculating means of determining a necessary distance between the upper and lower cabs on reading the destination floor and calculating an inter-cab distance changing time required for changing the distance between the cabs to the necessary distance by the inter-cab distance changing means, and a car frame movement decelerating means of lengthening the transit time to the destination floor by decelerating a moving speed of the car frame by the car frame moving means when the inter-cab distance changing time calculated by the inter-cab distance changing time calculating means is longer than the transit time calculated by the transit time calculating means. |
