A valve comprises a hollow body 11 having an inlet opening 14 and an outlet opening 32, a sleeve 46 mounted in the body between the inlet and outlet openings, and a hollow cylindrical valve member 49 reciprocably mounted in the sleeve and having elongated parts 55a, 55b to control fluid flow. The valve member is connected by a lever 24 and a cable 23 to a manually operable knob 22 and controls the flow of water to a car heater. A flexible wall 38 provides a force opposing that due to fluid pressure on the valve member itself. Fluid pressure also serves to press flexible flanges 46a of the sleeve 46 into engagement with the valve member 49.</p> |
