The apparatus (1) has receiving space (19) to accommodate successively supplied printed products. A lift (14) has lift elements (18) and discharge element for feeding out of bundle (6 ') from receiving space. The lift is operated to initially move printed products downwardly into the receiving space, so that products are in a position to be subsequently compressed into bundle by pressing products with upward movement against support element (9). The lift element is moved from lower position to upper position for storage of products, and to convey bundle out of receiving space. An independent claim is included for method for forming bundles of printed products.
