Inks which are used to disrupt polymeric or film-forming dye layers contain a conditioner with this property. Specified conditioners are glycerol, diethanolamine, salicylic acid, octylphenoxypolyoxyethylene ethanol, fatty acids, fatty acid amides, benzoic acid, methyl pyrollidone, polyethylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulphate, potassium triphosphate or hydroxide, a -naphthol and salts of diethanolamine and benzoic acid, with an acid which releases the conditioner on heating. The ink may also contain a pigment (e.g. titanium dioxide or carbon black) or a dye, castor oil, an ultra-violet absorber, India ink, 1,4,3,6-sorbide or dextrin. In the example, a metal type, an intaglic plate or a typewriter ribbon is inked with an ink as specified above and contacted with a polymeric or film-forming dye layer which becomes disrupted at the inked areas.
|
