[Also in Division C2] Nutriments, which increase the appetite and the utilization of nutritive value, may be obtained by adding 3,6-pyridazine diol or an organo tropic salt thereof to a fodder and/or watering composition. The 3,6-pyridazine salts employed are suitably those formed with alkali metals, ammonia and organic bases and are preferably the double salts of 3,6-pyridazine diol formed with salts of amino acids, suitable amino acids being glycine, alanine, aspartic acid, glutamic acid, histidine, serine and cysteine in the form of salts with alkali metals, dialkylamino alkanols, dialkylamines or other tertiary amines. The fodder compositions may be prepared by admixing the finely ground pyridazine derivative with the basic fodder which may be an animal fodder, preferably a fattening fodder either by itself or in the form of a fodder concentrate. The pyridazine derivative is suitably employed in such amount that domestic animals receive a daily amount of 5-50 mg./kg body weight thereof. The pyridazine derivative may also be employed in the form of a premix, containing 5-90% by wt. of said derivative, which may subsequently be diluted with basic fodder, said premix optionally containing carriers, e.g. fodder grains or products of the milling industry, or other additives, e.g. vitamins, mineral salts, trace-elements, chloline and antioxidants, and the pyridazine derivative may also be added to the fodder in the form of coated pills or granules. The watering compositions may be prepared by dissolving water-soluble salts of 3,6-pyridazine diol in liquids suitable for watering, e.g. water, milk of whey.
