<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous carbon electrode base that facilitates the manifestation of a water management function inside the fuel cell of the porous carbon electrode base and improves uniformity in the plane of the water management function, and to provide the fuel cell using the porous carbon electrode base. <P>SOLUTION: The above problem can be solved by the porous carbon electrode base, where at least two conductive porous bases made of carbon materials having different gas transmission coefficients are laminated. Preferably, the two conductive porous bases are made of at least two types of carbon materials having different compositions. The difference between the gas transmission coefficients of at least two porous carbon bases is not less than 30 ml mm/cm<SP>2</SP>hr Pa. More preferably, the conductive porous bases made of two carbon materials are laminated in the porous carbon electrode base, and the gas transmission coefficients of the two conductive porous bases are 10-100 ml mm/cm<SP>2</SP>hr Pa and 130-400 ml mm/cm<SP>2</SP>hr Pa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
