PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for providing an electronic book function are provided to improve visual and auditory effects by providing a specific effect to a page background and a scrap area. CONSTITUTION: A control unit(100) loads an electronic book. A scarp processing unit(102) applies a specific effect to a part of the text of the loaded electronic book. If the input of the user is sensed in image and text areas, the scrap processing unit generates the applied effect. The scrap processing unit applies the specific effect in a page background or scrap area.
