PURPOSE: A positioning system based on local wireless communication and method thereof are provided to calculate location information for a terminal apparatus based on reception signal strength of each repeater for beacon signals. CONSTITUTION: A terminal apparatus(200) stores reception signal information of each repeater(100) in embedded USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module) cards. The terminal apparatus extracts the stored reception signal information according to established periods. The terminal apparatus transmits the extracted reception signal information and terminal unit identification information to a location management unit(300). The location management apparatus calculates location information for the terminal apparatus according to the established periods. The location management apparatus controls the terminal apparatus in order to connect to the repeater corresponding to the location information.
