PURPOSE: An energy storage system is provided to use full electric power and to prevent excessive charge, thereby to extend the service life of a unit cell by checking the electric power of each unit cell and charging an insufficient unit charge selectively. CONSTITUTION: An energy storage system comprises a wind power generator(100) generating 3-phass alternating current power with wind velocity, a rectifier(200) changing the alternating current power into direct current power, an output voltage detection unit(250) detecting the output voltage of the rectifier, a battery(300) formed by connecting many unit cells(310) in a series, a unit cell current detection unit(400) composed of many current detection sensors(410) to detect the current of each unit cell of the battery, a low potential switch array(700) composed of many switches to connect or cut off a low potential end of the rectifier and a ground terminal and each intermediate terminal of the battery, a high potential switch array(800) composed of many switches to connect or cut off a high potential end of the rectifier and a positive terminal and each intermediate terminal of the battery, a switch driving unit(600) operating each switch of the low potential switch array and the high potential switch array independently, and a control unit(500) controlling the switch driving unit to charge unit cells selectively.
