<p>Disclosed is a monoclonal antibody or an antigen-binding portion thereof that specifically binds to the center region of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) and inhibits human MIF biological function, wherein the center region is the region spanning aa 50-68 of human MIF. Also disclosed is the use of the antibody in the manufacture of a medicament for treating an immunological disease in a subject.</p>
