A COMPOSITION CONTAINING ECKOL FOR INHIBITING A GROWTH OF CANCER STEM CELLS

PURPOSE: An inhibitor for cancer stem cell growth containing eckol compounds is provided to suppress Ras signal through a Ras-Raf-ERK signal transduction system. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing cancer stem cell growth contains eckol compound of chemical formula 1 or derivative thereof as an active ingredient. The eckol compound is isolated from brown algae, Ecklonia cava. The cancer stem cells have an ability of differentiating into glioblastoma or brain cancer. The composition is alternatively administered with an anticancer drug. The anticancer drug is temozolomide.
