PURPOSE: System and a method for displaying a background image of a traveling screen is provided to display image obtained through a camera on a screen display unit of A/V(Audio/Video) system as a background image, thereby improving a visibility of a driver. CONSTITUTION: System for displaying a background image of a traveling screen comprises at least one or more cameras(110,120), a key input unit(130), a controller(140), an A/V system unit(150). The camera detects and outputs image information including traveling information. When a background image setting signal is input form a key input unit, the controller outputs a background image control in order to image information is output through a background screen during the operation of the A/V system unit together with on/off-operation control signal according to the operation sate of the A/V system unit. The controller outputs background image control signal. The A/V system unit outputs audio and video information according to A/V operation control signal, outputs on/off operation and image information according to the operation control signal and screen control signal of the controller, and displays operation control and display icon image information to be overlapped on a background screen.
