摘要 A reed-solomon decoder in a digital communication system is provided to reduce a size by removing registers and a multiplier connected to the registers required for a Chien search and a Forney algorithm treatment process. A reed-solomon decoder in a digital communication system includes a reed-solomon polynomial expression evaluation processor(110), a modified Euclidean processor(130), and an error corrector(150). The reed-solomon polynomial expression evaluation processor(110) calculates a syndrome for searching an error location by receiving a code word of received data, and generates an erasure location polynomial expression for searching a location of an erasure symbol based on erasure information inputted from the outside. The reed-solomon polynomial expression evaluation processor(110) outputs a modified syndrome by multiplying the syndrome by the erasure location polynomial expression, and calculates the error location and size of the received data by using the inputted error location polynomial expression and error evaluation polynomial based on the modified syndrome. The modified Euclidean processor(130) calculates the error location polynomial expression and the error evaluation polynomial expression based on the modified syndrome, and transmits the calculated value to the reed-solomon polynomial expression evaluation processor(110). The error corrector(150) corrects an error of the received data by receiving the error location and size of the received data from the reed-solomon polynomial expression evaluation processor(110).
