[Also in Division H3] A partially wired magnetic core plane, containing X wires 34 and Y wires 36 is placed on a core supporting unit 10, with toroidal cores C (Fig. 7, not shown), strung at the inter-section of the wires. A movable matrix 20 is moved to the position shown to skew portions of the wires 34. Wires 22 are clamped between a unit 14 and a roller 62 and a wire feeding unit 12 is retracted to form hardened ends to the wires 22 by stretching and breaking them (Fig. 2, not shown). The wires are retracted so that all the fractured ends lie within a guide housing 70 and the unit 12 is advanced up to the core array after withdrawing the unit 14. The wires 22 are then threaded through the cores C, passing through the core plane into the receiving unit 16. The wires are then trimmed to length and bonded to contact pieces on the core plane frame 38. |
